I am honoured to welcome you to the third in our trilogy of galas benefiting UNICEF's Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS campaign. Once again I am overwhelmed by the incredible and gracious people who have come together to support Unite with Art. With so many wonderful and worthy causes in need of support, I thank you wholeheartedly for choosing UNICEF; an organization recognized globally for its steadfast commitment to improving the lives of so many of the world's children.
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the artists, who, through their exceptional contributions of contemporary art inspire each and every one of us to be as generous and compassionate as they are. It has been a privilege to work with such extraordinarily talented artists and share in their willingness to serve humanity.
There is tremendous preparation required for an event of this magnitude and my sincere gratitude belongs once again with Paris Forrer for her outstanding support every year for Unite with Art. I would like to thank the event committee, the galleries and the volunteers who have been committed to donating their time and energy for our cause. Your efforts are truly appreciated.
This event could not take place without the benevolent support of our sponsors. Thank you Mindset Foundation, Zeidler Partnership Architects, Bear Mountain Master Partnerships, Hartwig Industries, Vision Critical and Arn Schoch for your generosity. I would also like to thank all of our in-kind sponsors and donors, as well as Maynards Auction House, for kindly donating their fabulous new space to host this year's gala event. I am pleased to pay well-deserved tribute to UNICEF President and CEO, Nigel Fisher, whose commitment to the world's children continues to serve as an inspiration to us all. Nigel will not be able to join us this year as he is currently with the UN mission in Haiti. I know he is needed there but his presence will be missed.
Finally, Unite with Art would not exist without the amazing spirit, capability and generosity of Alison Lawton. Her vision and unwavering dedication to social innovation inspired the inaugural event three years ago and her ongoing support has once again made this year's event possible. While serving as Chair of Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS Canada, Alison's passion motivates us all to strive to make a genuine and lasting difference.
Please embrace the beauty and enthusiasm of Unite with Art 2010 by opening your hearts for children who deserve a brighter tomorrow.
Withgratitude,
Julie Lee
